Doordarshan to telecast Bangladesh series

The 3-match ODI series between India and Bangladesh will be covered live by Doordarshan, the national broadcaster of India.
There were fears that Indian views wouldn't be able to watch the action live after Gazi Sports, the official rights holders of cricket in Bangladesh failed to negotiate deals with either Sony Six or Star Sports. While Sony, who are also telecasting the 2014 FIFA World Cup showed no interest at all, Star Sports offered Rs 5 crore for the 3-match series, a sum considered 'paltry' by Gazi TV.
Salahuddin Chowdhury, CFO and head of operations of Gazi Group, was quoted as telling a local newspaper: "The Star offer is too less in comparison to the cost of the rights."
With BCCI involved in legal tussles with Neo Sports and Ten Sports, Chowdhury said his group could not enter into any sort of negotiations with the two channels. While Doordarshan will cover the series live, it will not be the official broadcaster of the series.
The matches will be played on the 15th, 17th and 19th of June in Dhaka. India has named a weakened side having rested seven of its senior players including MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin.
